Statement about Postponement of 2020 Festival

Hey, Fermenters!

With all that’s going on, we have decided to postpone the 6th annual San Diego Fermentation Festival, which was originally planned for Sunday, May 3. We are all navigating a sea of extreme uncertainty right now; it’s too soon to be certain that the current restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID19 virus will be lifted in time for us to get together safely then.

We are considering a few dates in late summer/autumn to reschedule the Festival. Please take our quick 2 question Google Forms survey and VOTE for which date you would prefer to celebrate later this year. We will take your vote into consideration when deciding our new date.

Which date would you prefer? Let us know here!

Keeping our immune systems strong has never been more important in our lifetimes than right now. Raw, fermented foods and beverages like kimchi, pickles, sauerkraut, and kombucha are just a few foods containing billions of probiotics– microbes that support our immune system, especially our resident gut microbes. By eating a little bit of probiotic rich foods each day, we can help strengthen our gut and in turn our whole bodies.

During this period of global introspection, I encourage you to keep learning, especially about how to make fermented foods at home! We have lots of resources at our sister site, Fermenters Club. We have loads of resources for you to learn how to ferment food at home:

Be well, and until we can celebrate together again, keep on fermentin’! Thank you!
